Being a big Katherine Heigl fan, Knocked Up seemed like a good DVD rental for me. But like everything else these days, I never really got around to watching it. Fortunately Amber made her opinion clear on her blog, and I thought it would be an enjoyable, funny and insightful experience. And it was. And wasn’t. The problem with my rental experience was with the rental. The sole source of DVDs in my area is a 20-minute drive, with a virtual monopoly on the market. And while they charge little, and have multiple copies, high traffic = damaged discs. This is a very funny, warm, and emotional flick. It switches effortlessly between high and low humor. Unfortunately, I could not watch it from start to end due to all of the fingerprints and scratches. But I did catch the first 20 minutes and the last 20 minutes, and it was very good. I am going to have to rent it again!!

Aww, that sucks. I hate getting damaged DVDs. Trust me. This is a funny rental. Seth Rogan makes the movie, but I'm sure Katherine Heigl will be your highlight, Flix.

I thought the girl who played Heigl's sister (Apatow's real life wife) was really great, too.

I loved this film, and I hope you get to see it start to finish. The great thing about Judd Apatow's films is that even though they are what I call "dude comedies," they are also smarter than most films in that genre and they have TONS of heart.

Since you saw the last 20 minutes, did you see the birth scene? I made the mistake of seeing this film with my mom and my brother, mom sitting between us. Talk about awkward.

I've been having a similar experience with my rentals lately. Hopefully, nothing important happened in the second half of the Good Shephard

This seems to happen with pretty much every DVD these days. The movie was ok...nothing spectacular, but yeah, that birthing scene - I was NOT expecting that!

haven't seen it, must rent it this holiday season.

Mish, I don't know what people do with these DVD rentals, but it sure isn't watch them. I am going to actually start looking at the DVD before leaving the store.

LA, the sister character was great. And yes I saw the birth scene! (There must have been an awkward silence in your living room with brother and mother there with you.)

Diane, you didn't miss much in the second half of the Good Shepard.

Edit, tell me about it!!

Ryan, it's funny!!

it seems like every time i watch this new fangled digital cable everyone is raving about, the very show i'm watching freezes up and pixelates into cyberspace. i have never seen the middle 30 minutes of grandma's boy and based on the beginning and the end, i just know it's knee slapping hysterical.

as for knocked up, i haven't seen it, but felt like i had after watching all the trailers and hype for it.

Kitty, my dad pays big bucks for his digital, premium cable. And has announced his plans for cancellation.

For the past two years.

i would probably cancel it too. if i weren't mooching it off of friends and family, which is the only way i get to watch such a delicious smorgasbord of eye candy.

I haven't seen this yet. But I may even suffer through a Katherine Heigl performance to watch it!!

It's sad really.. I can resite this movie from start to finish!
The entire cast seem to fit perfectly into this movie. I have seen the movie atleast ten times, I laugh and every time I watch it. And I notice something new every time I watch this movie. Seth Rogan is hillarious! And you have to love the sisters kids in this movie!
I suggest anyone who loved this movie the rent "Superbad"
PS.. I took my Word Verification off a year ago and I haven't had one spam comment..

I haven't seen it yet but it's on my list along with Superbad. I've been too apathetic to watch any movies for the past couple of weeks. But I appreciated the Wicked Weasel suggestion.

Have a wonderful Christmas! And all the best to you and your famgy in the New Year!

Everyone! Screw the digital cable and the cheap movie rentals! illegal downloading is the only way to go!! Then you can take all the time in the world to watch them..because you own them!!

Thanks Amber!!

La, it's weird when 35ยบ feels warm. But the temperatures finally made it above freezing. (And Stinky got many treats and snacks!)

Kitty, I watched IAWL last night!! It was on television. (That one always gets me.)

The acting was unbelievable and the script written poorly.
Watch Juno for a more realistic version of unwanted pregnancy.

Queenie, I couldn't fully comment due to the damaged DVD. But unwanted pregnancy is really not my genre.
