Now that the Sopranos are over, I needed some type of family drama to fill the void left by the New Jersey boys. Fortunately, Tuesday nights has the new series Cane, which centers around the Duque family. Based in Miami, the Duques are Cuban Americans that have become rich in the rum business. They also grow the sugar cane used in the distillation process, which puts them at odds with rich fat cat Joe Samuels (Ken Howards) who wants to control the entire sugar trade. Decent CBS fare.

I really wanted to watch this, but it's on opposite Boston Legal. I'm a fan of much of the cast of Cane.

Wow, is that Jimmy Smits? He looks deliciously evil.

NOOOOOOOOO!!! getflix, usually i'm on board with everything you watch because we have the same tastes and we both appreciate entertainment both good, bad and cheesy. but as someone whose father if of cuban/jamaican descent, this show with it's let's cast anyone who has a latin accent (some by way of mexico) or exotic feature that can pass as cuban....actually, i kid. this stuff is better than freshly made fiddle faddle and milk duds mixed together. jimmy smits really kicks ass and hector elizondo can finallly be in something where he doesn't play the janitor with the heart of gold!!

ps my dad is so clueless he tells everyone it's an all cuban cast. haha

Miami is getting way over represented in tv fare these days IMHO . . . I get my Miami dose with Dexter and Burn Notice, no room for more with Cane . . .

LA, it could be your summer series. That's how I watch my television now. That way there is actually two seasons of new stuff every year.

Pru, that is Jimmy and he's rockin' his own series.

Kitty, I know!! The cool thing is that it's actually on television and there really isn't anything like it out there.

Diane, it's like Miami is the new Hollywood.

I watched one episode of Cane and was quite disappointed. I think that one family drama is enough for me. I will stick with Brothers and Sisters for the time being. I will try to watch Cane again, give it a second chance if you will. I might have to do this if the writers strike goes on forever.
