Yeah, I am bringing back the tube. I thought I could get back to just blogging about classic films, but I can't. And what better way to bring back television than with CBS!! Thank-you, CBS. I mean it. Really.
They run four comedy sitcoms Monday night. And premier night rocked. I am still loving "How I Met Your Mother" at 8pm sharp. It remains very funny, with a storyline that remains engaging. I laughed alot.
Next up is "The Big Bang Theory" which also is very, very funny. I am a guy. Maybe a little nerdy. And I get some of the science, which often serves as punch lines. (Is that wrong?) Anyhoo, Penny is hot.
"Two And A Half Men" is getting a little weak. Still funny. But they're going to have to work on some new plot stuctures.
Finally there is "Rules of Engagement" at 9:30pm. Now I caught this thing late last season. And it is unexpectedly funny. Very subtle. All of these sitcoms, while fronting jokes about sex, are still really about human relationships. There is humor in common human experience. No other network has this much invested in comedy. Bravo CBS!! Chaplin would be proud.
Flix - I really got some laughs from Big Bang Theory Monday night. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of 2.5 Men, so I wasn't sure I'd like it (same creators).
I started watching Rules of Engagement last season when it came out in the spring. It's a guilty pleasure for me. It might have something to do with the fact that I think Patrick Warburton is extremely yummy.
This is a great show for couples to watch. It's got highbrow humor for me and canned laughter from the audience for Pelegrim to pretend he gets the jokes.
Is Rules of Engagement the one with David Spade? Because anything with Spade in it is a hit with me!
Diane, I think you would get a kick out of Big Bang. It's nerdy in a good way. (I love the Forbidden Planet poster in the production still!!) And Penny works at the Cheesecake Factory. How good is that?
Pru, I am going to add House to my new show list. (Mad Men has grabbed the first position.) I am going to start to watch some new shows and will check it out!! (Where and when are these on??)
Kook, canned laughter rocks!! So does Kevin Spader!!
I haven't watched the BBT, but I think I will check it out. I really hate 2 and 1/2 Men. Never liked How I Met Your Mother, except for Neil Patrick Harris... and I have never seen Rules of Engagement due to David Spade. So I will give BBT a try, I do like the kid from Roseanne, so why not.
i almost gave up on serial television, but now that dexter is back on showtime, i have a designated night to watch TV. i never was much into sitcoms, but i do like galecki (the nerdy one with the glasses in this picture).
i've been watching alot of BBC america mainly top gear, little britain, the (original) office with ricky gervais, torchwood, dr who and this cheesy nightime soap called hotel babylon.
What is your idea of a clasic? I think that would vary on the person wouldn't it? Have you seen the new Die Hard? Fantastic! Wasn't expecting much...exceeded my expectations!
"it stands the test of time." For who? I know people who have watched "The Bodygard" like 500 times.. But I do not think it is a classic... hahahahahaha Rent "Reign Over Me" And tell me what you think! I am a die hard Adam Sandler fan. This movie just goes to show his many diferent levels of acting. Fuck I love him! hahahhahaaha I watched "Ocean's 13" the other day... It was alright... For a star studded cast, I was still awake. Knocked Up.. I watched it twice.. I loved that movie!! It was so me!!! hahahahah Those are my peoples hahahhaha I hope you have seen it..If not.. You should have a double feature night!
Mish, I hear you. College doesn't leave much room for anything else. But I think our blogger group is really happy you're doing your thing! (And the holidays are coming up, so we can share more then!!)
Amber, if you put a 1970 Camero next to a 1970 Volkswagon Bug, and I asked you which was a classic, would you pick the Volkswagon? Adam Sandler is from New England and is very funny. I don't want to watch any of those Ocean's movies. But I will rent Knocked-Up.
Adam Sandler is from "Canada" and is fabulous! The double feature I was talking about was Reign over me and knocked up" I wouldn't expect you to watch Ocean's 13 ... Unless you were having trouble sleeping..(;. A Volkswagon is a very dependable vehicle ...

LA, I think Patrick is the best thing about Rules of Engagement!!
And Big Bang Theory was an unexpected surprise.
Hey - i'll have to check out Big Bang and Rules!
The new season of House just started. You should watch!

Kookla - Yes, that's the one.

Flix - Mad Men is on AMC @ 10:00 pm. For back episodes, it's available On Demand on most cable companies.
It's almost done with its 13-week run (I think there are 3-4 episodes left), and the second season starts in June.
flix - I did watch the premier of Chuck this weekend and thought it was worth a second watch!
BBT wasn't as funny this week, but I do dig the geek talk.

flix - waddup with the mid 80s weather in your neck of the woods?
LA, thanks for the info. Big Bang had me laughing, but the second week of a premier sitcoms usually seems less funny.
Ryan, it's pretty funny!!
PK, I love PBS!!
Diane, hopefully it will be autumn when you arrive.
What is your idea of a clasic?
I think that would vary on the person wouldn't it?
Have you seen the new Die Hard?
Fantastic! Wasn't expecting much...exceeded my expectations!
Amber, I think something is a classic when it stands the test of time.
I am going to rent the new Die Hard based on your recommendation!! (The first Die Hard is a classic!!)
Ahh, I remember when I had time for television. It was back when I had time for blogging!
My television habits have been cut down significantly. How I Met Your Mother is very funny.
"it stands the test of time."
For who?
I know people who have watched "The Bodygard" like 500 times.. But I do not think it is a classic... hahahahahaha
Rent "Reign Over Me"

Knocked Up is effing hilarious.
BBT got picked up for the whole season. I'm glad, I think it's a solid sitcom.
