Hotel Chevalier (2007) is a short, 13 minute film starring Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman. It is currently being screened prior to the full length feature The Darjeeling Limited. Both are directed by Wes Anderson.
I will admit my initial curiosity to this particular hotel was Ms. Portman. This was her first "nude" scene. And all of this coming from an actress that had previously stated she would never shed her gear and show her rear. In a way, I almost wish she had kept her promise.
Using celebrity skin to sell an art film is a tried and true method. And it almost always works. But unfortunately the cinematic restraints placed on the framing and blocking of Ms. Portman's body leaves much to the imagination. And it always seems like one of the characters is cropped out of the frame.
Despite my misgivings, Hotel Chevalier was offered as a free via iTunes where it was downloaded 500,00 times. Very popular indeed.

Diane, it's so short, that it feels like a student film. Amusing and off-beat.
I like Jason. Natalie will always be Padme Amidala to me.
