Diane, I like it. It's in my collection. It was directed by David Lynch and went over budget. But some feel it was unfairly dismissed at the time of it's release.

LA, the characters ingest a rare planetary spice which allows them to "fold time" or time travel. But it turns their eyes blue. Dune was released prior to digital effects, and this results in a less than perfect look. (Although I think it still looks great.)

Good lord how I love this movie! I quote it constantly even though no one ever knows what the hell I'm talking about when I refer to Gom Jabbars and the like. Great pic. The spice must flow!

Pru, this film is such a treasure in so many ways. First, you have the legion of fans that love the novel and despise the film. (So the movie never got out of the gate, so to speak.)

Then there is David Lynch, our premier diplomat to the underground cinema. He was spending the loot in an attempt to make the next Star Wars. (That was a mistake.) Dune is a drama, with action sequences. Star Wars was more a matinee highlighting Hollywood's newest craft masters. A different animal in my humble opinion.

And one must remember, there are no digital effects in this film. That's huge. This is all old school. The illusions created were not generated on a computer.
